Three wickets from Mohammed Shami blew the Centurion Test open though South Africa remained favourites as they went to lunch leading by 201 with five wickets in hand. Shami dismissed both overnight batsmen, AB de Villiers and Dean Elgar, after they had put on 141 for the third wicket, before taking out Quinton de Kock, all three wickets coming in a single seven-over spell of testing line and reverse-swing. At lunch, South Africa were 173 for 5 with Faf du Plessis and Vernon Philander at the crease.
