Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah decided to bat first after winning the toss against Sri Lanka at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. Bangladesh are without Shakib Al Hasan (injured) and Imrul Kayes, Liton Das, Mehidy Hasan and Taskin Ahmed (dropped), as they handed out four new caps: debutants Ariful Haque, Zakir Hasan, Afif Hossain and Nazmul Islam were named in the XI while Mustafizur Rahman rounds up the fifth change.

Sri Lanka have brought in Dinesh Chandimal, Kusal Mendis, Isuru Udana Jeevan Mendis and debutant Shehan Madushanka. They are without Kusal Perera, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Asela Gunaratne, Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Pradeep. The last time Jeevan played for Sri Lanka was five years ago.
